With the help of a dark fantasy screenplay by Guillermo del Toro, Troy Nixey's Don't Be Afraid of the Dark is easily a watchable thriller.Highly misconstrued as a horror, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, while containing elements of a horror, doesn't play out like one. The 95 minute story is a tad slow, but the mystery behind the "fairies" contain high interest value from beginning to end.There aren't any scares to be had and the violence isn't overly intense or gruesome; however, there is just enough to back up an R rating.
