The Mexican suspect who confessed to viciously beating Canadian tourist Sheila Nabb at a luxury resort has been denied bail. Jose Ramon Acosta Quintero, 28, faces up to 14 years in prison if convicted for the elevator attack that left Nabb with virtually every bone in her face broken. He appeared in court Monday and has now been formally charged with attempted murder, according to Mexican media. Ioan Grillo, a journalist covering Mexico for the Global Post news website, told CBC News on Monday that a judge upheld the charges and has given prosecutors up to three months to gather additional evidence. "I seen the video, and it does show that I put my foot back into the elevator, but it wasn't a kick," the accused told reporters. "I think I just maybe pushed her hand back in so that the doors would close and I could leave."
